It has been nearly six hours.

Faris can feel it. The weakness is unmistakable. He's never experienced it before, but all K'da know what it means. He's been separated from his host for too long, long enough that he needs to join or he will die, and fade away into nothing.

He still isn't sure where this Nexus place is, but there are no Shontine that he's seen. No species he recognizes as one able to serve as hosts. There have only been two compatible races that the K'da know of, and he's seen neither. Robots, aliens, all manner of creatures, but nothing he recognizes.

This cannot be the end.

Movement, from the corner of his eye. The sight of painted skin, full of life and possibility. A human, perhaps. Faris has never met one before. But if this one has willingly inked his skin, perhaps it is possible... perhaps he would allow it. At least long enough to buy him some time.

The K'da gathers his remaining strength, ready to leap as soon as the human is in range. It may be the last thing he ever does, so he intends to make it count.

Now Faris is just puzzled. "You just said they could send messages from different dimensions. I am in a different dimension now than I was minutes ago."

[losthunter]

"Oh, I misunderstood." Hunter blushes softly. "You are in a different dimension now. And yes, you could send messages to others in another dimension as long as you know their PINpoint coordinates."

[poetwarrior]

Faris agrees that there is a misunderstanding, but he's not sure which side it's on, because that still wasn't clear to him. "I meant this," he says, leaping off Hunter's skin again. "My nature."

[losthunter]

"Then I guess I was on the right track the first time around." Hunter goes back a step. "Right now, PINpoints wouldn't be able to shift with you, when you bind into another person."

"But I have some friends, whom I could ask if there is a way to make the PINpoing shift like you do."

[poetwarrior]

The misunderstanding was Faris's, then, and he inclines his head slightly in apology for the mistake. "I see. This is all very new to me. We have never needed any technology that changes with us, as we are always with our hosts."

[losthunter]

"This will be something to adapt to, until we can find your door, and your host." Hunter smiles a little apologetically.

[poetwarrior]

"Now that we have obtained this PINpoint device, shall we try to find this door you claim I own?" It isn't that he doubts the door exists, he just didn't see it himself, so Hunter is his only source. The young human seems reasonable enough, though, and Faris likes to consider himself a decent judge of character.

[losthunter]

"We could try a scan, to see if the PINpoint can detect your door." Hunter switches to that feature. He is a little concerned that this might now work. It can be difficult finding doors if there is no starting point.

Faris must have wandered quite far from his door over the last six hours, because the scan comes up dry. If his door is anywhere in the immediate vicinity, it's doing a very good job of hiding.

The K'da can't read the results, so he waits patiently for Hunter to tell him.

[losthunter]

"I'm afraid it is not picking up anything." Hunter frowns, hating to say so.

[poetwarrior]

"Then we must continue to search," Faris says, although he fears that perhaps he is truly lost. His host back home will be missing him, and while the Shontine can live without the K'da, they've been together for years.

[losthunter]

Hunter starts to walk towards where he had first encountered Faris, to try to determine if the PINpoint can pick up anything.

"Tell me about your host?"

Faris stays three-dimensional for now, so they can both search. "Her name is Chanath," he says, thinking of fond memories with his host. "We have been together since I was old enough for a permanent host. She is a pilot, and a good friend."

[losthunter]

"Will she get sick, without you there?" Hunter is a little concerned.

[poetwarrior]

"Heartsick only," Faris assures him. "The Shontine have chosen to be hosts, but their biology does not require it as the K'da do."

[losthunter]

"Still something that I hope we can prevent." Hunter still doesn't see anything on the PINpoint as they explore.

[poetwarrior]

"As do I," the K'da agrees.

He isn't seeing any signs of a familiar door either. As a poet-warrior, however, he is hiding much of his worry. "If we cannot locate the door, what then?"

[losthunter]

"Then you stay with me, until we can find it. Or someone who can help."

[poetwarrior]

"An acceptable plan, given the circumstances." He doesn't want to impose, but Hunter did offer.

[losthunter]

"I could show you to my place, anytime you are ready." But until then, Hunter is still going to explore the Forum in hopes of finding Faris' door.

[poetwarrior]

Faris wants to continue to look, but even he accepts that the search may take longer than a day, and they've already spent quite a lot of time with no luck. "That would be fine. You should look after your own needs. I do not expect to be your first priority."

[losthunter]

Hunter looks around one more time, accepting the fact that there is no clue to where Faris' door had gone. At least for the moment.

"Okay. Let's go to my place." He uses his PINpoint to active the portal to his apartment.

Unsure what to expect, Faris leaps aboard again, watching warily from his tattoo form across Hunter's chest. He's never traveled by PINpoint, or any other unconventional method that he remembers.

[losthunter]

Hunter steps through the PINpoint without any concern, soon arriving to his apartment. His portal steps right into his art studio, where everything for his art is set up. He was in the middle of working on some abstract pieces.

"This is my home."

Faris has never been in an apartment of any kind before, so the entire place is new and different to him. There's a bit of increased weight on Hunter's back as the K'da's head rises, three-dimensional, as he looks around. "This place is quite unusual."
